Massimo Giorgetti titled his most recent collection “Interlude” and sent a note with his show invitations asking all his guests to abstain from posting any images on social media during the event. Instead, his hope was that they would just sit back and enjoy the moment, take it all in and be … well… present.
It’s interesting then that the pieces he sent down his runway were so perfectly suited for the web. Their retina-searing colors, bold patterns and dramatic proportions were true Instagram fodder. And the way Giorgetti combined those three headstrong elements just intensified their visual impact.
For the most part, his guests did exactly as he requested, with a few covertly filming or snapping a discrete photo or two. What they saw was a happy-go-lucky collection destined for great editorial spreads and future turns on the concrete catwalk. These were loud and proud designs. Plate-sized polka dot puffa coats, plastic-coated lace ruffled dresses and tops and skirts covered in naïve sequin-embellished cartoon faces were just some of the kooky modern clothing Giorgetti was proposing.
This was a collection with a sunny soul and wearing any pieces from this line up is guaranteed to cause some ear-to-ear smiles.
