Chicissimo! Is that a word? Well, it is now, because how else to describe the refined yet vibrant beauty on display at Bottega Veneta?

Tomas Maier created a collection that was both feminine and fierce. His long and lean silhouettes in body skimming knits looked as stylish as they seemed comfortable. However nothing is ever simple in Maier’s hands. He is an avid explorer of new techniques and fabrics and his ceaseless curiosity resulted this time in designs that magnified the beauty of traditional sartorial constructs. 
Plaids and checks were a big part of this collection’s story and Maier gave the traditionally masculine motif a feminine twist. For example, delicate floral print dresses were sliced and diced across black georgette fabric for graphic power. Alternatively checked and pleated knit dresses or classic plaid coats would be judicious finished with a smattering of sequins. As for the colorful lambskin coats bisected with bands of Karung and Ayers snake skins, well they were a feisty and über luxe take on the theme. 
Stunning statement green stone on silver jewelry were a welcome addition to the ensembles, as was a brand new ladylike bag line cut from exotic skins in bold colors. 
But the most attractive thing about this show was how the garments, as intricate as they were, felt utterly wearable. More than that, they were a complete wardrobe that could easily entice a modern woman to empty out her closet and fill it with every stitch of clothing in this striking collection.
